About Grand Café Krasnapolsky
The young 22-year old A.W. Krasnapolsky arrived in Amsterdam in 1856. With his tailor’s diploma in his pocket, Adolph Wilhelm had no problem finding work. After a busy day’s work, he sought relaxation in one of the old coffee-houses around Dam Square. In 1866, he buys one of the ruinous coffee-houses and within a short period of time, the café is transformed into one of the most famous establishments of Amsterdam.
The new café is popular and high-quality food brings the café fame. Because of the homely atmosphere, it becomes a home away from home for many of the guests.
Nowadays the legacy of A.W. Krasnapolsky covers much more than just a café. But however much has changed; excellent quality, good products, and a warm atmosphere remain the key ingredients for Grand Café Krasnapolsky, even in the twenty-first century.
